Lead Bloons in the BTD5 generation are immune to most sharp projectiles and a few laser attacks not under influence of Monkey Intelligence Bureau or its subsequent upgrade. Natural Leads start appearing on Round 14. Lead Bloons never get replaced once unlocked. Grouped Leads replace the Spaced Leads option on Round 12, and cost $160 for 4 moderately grouped Leads, and gives 4.5 eco per slot (4 eco per slot before Version 1.4.1). Spaced Leads cost $60 and give 3 eco per slot (4 eco per slot before Version 1.4.0), each slot sending 2 Leads with wide spacing. Lead Bloons can be sent starting from Round 10. They cannot be destroyed by any sharp attack but can be damaged by explosions, fire, magic, freezing, and bullets. Lead Bloon Lead Bloons are immune to sharp shots and need explosives or magic damage to pop them. Any attack except Darts, Rangs, or Storm core weapons can damage lead bloons by default, the three weapon types listed require Research to gain lead-popping power every few shots. Like all bloons below Glass Bloons and Zebra Bloons, the lead bloon only spawns one Black Bloon when popped instead of the two that spawn in Bloons TD games. Lead Bloons appear in Bloons Supermonkey 2 starting with Level 4 of both Flash and Mobile. Further discussion on the Lead Bloon's immunities are listed under #Immunity. This is especially problematic for towers such as Dart Monkeys and Tack Shooters, which naturally are weak to these bloon types without accessing powerful higher-tier upgrades. In Bloons TD games and Bloons Pop!, the Lead Bloon is immune to all sharp attacks without special upgrades or support. Unlike most bloons, the Lead Bloon has no parent, except BTD5 Generation Bloonarius the Inflator during Boss Events. More damage pops the Leads Bloon into its descendents, following the multi-layer health system of many bloons in the game. As per the multi-layer health system, a popped Lead Bloon splits into two Black Bloons when affected by an attack that deals 1 damage. It is as fast as a Red Bloon and leaks 23 lives (or 19 pre-BTD4) if it reaches the exit. The Lead Bloon is one rank above Black Bloon in Bloons TD games, on the same tier as a Zebra Bloon.
